The Purple Valley Yoga Centre, set in one of India’s most beautiful retreats, has been host to some of Ashtanga’s most prominent, world-renowned teachers, such as Sharath Ragaswamy, David Swenson, Chuck and Maty, Tim Miller, John Scott, Dena Kingsberg and Nancy Gilgoff.

The idyllic retreat, surrounded by a tropical landscaped garden, has a swimming pool, juice bar, Ayurvedic center and a beautiful shala catering to up to 40 students. The delicious vegetarian meals are prepared to a high standard by the retreat's chefs from around the globe. The mix of Asian, European, American and Indian influence brings character and delight to the three meals—breakfast, lunch and dinner—that the retreat provides for each guest.

Beyond the retreat, North Goa has a variety of colorful distractions, including the vibrant day and night markets, tropical outdoor restaurants in which to savor local Indian dishes, a selection of sandy beaches to lie back and relax on and places of interest to visit and explore.

All of this, when combined with the very diverse and cosmopolitan types of guests that the retreat attracts, creates a delightful ambience contributing to the magic of the retreat.

Two- or one-week residential or non-residential courses are available, and Purple Valley welcomes students of all levels.

Teacher training courses in yoga are being programmed for the 2009/2010 season (non-Ashtanga). We can also host yoga groups looking for a facility in which to conduct courses.
